Changeling

I was thinking today about my son. He is borderline Autistic. Something they call PPD-Pervasive Perceptive Disorder. Very high functioning, you wouldn't even know it unless you spend a lot of time with him.  You'd think he's a bit different, that he speaks a lot more grown up for a 13 year old and acts a bit...odd.
I knew he was different pretty quick.  My friends all sd "oh, all babies do that" but deep down, I knew there was something different about him. Not anything bad, just different.  He didnt crawl until he was 9 mos, but there are a lot of kids like that...He started talking quite early. Full sentences before he was a year old, first word?  Thank you at about 8 mos old!  lol Smart as a damn whip too.  Then, at about 18 mos old he started losing his words...still really smart, you could just SEE it.  Just watch him figuring shit out.  By the time he was 3, he still had some, but he mostly had his own language.  We called it 'alien speak'.  lol  By 4, he was in speech therapy and being tested for Autism..Scared me to death. He still, to this day, speaks like he's about 5 years older than he is.  He's wonderful.  At 10, he started having some weird things happen, come to find out they were seizures..but during the testing he had to have an MRI.  What they found was astounding.  On the right side of his brain, above and a bit forward of his ear..there are 3 small spots where no brain developed.  That is what caused the seizures...and maybe his Autism but they arent sure and probably wont ever BE sure.
SO  I wrote all of this because I was thinking about the legend of changelings the other day. I looked it up...the legend.  I've read and decided that a lot of the poor children that were accused or thought to be changelings were probably Autistic as they seemed perfectly normal at birth and early developement and then, suddenly, the babies/children, changed....and became different....the Changelings.
